Temporary Accommodation Modules Get a Revamp

Modular units that were used to house the army during the Olympic Games in 2012 are now being reused to provide temporary accommodation for construction workers.

The modules which comprised of two separate sleeping areas featured 8 single beds and 4 bathrooms with toilets and showers. The units have been back into the Elements Europe factory to be altered so to accommodate construction workers in Scotland.

One of the bathrooms in each sleeping area has been amended to offer the workers kitchenette facilities, proving just how easily modules can be altered in a factory environment.

Each unit is 7m long and 4 metres high and are weather proof, durable and thermally efficient. Each can easily be connected to the water mains and electricity, and in cases where none of these are available the units can be connected to generators and mobile water and waste water units. Making them a perfect solution for our client’s needs.

Berkeley Homes Choose Elements Europe to Complete Premier Inn Woolwich

Elements Europe has again been selected by Berkeley Homes as its preferred modular solution specialist. The project will see the delivery of 120 bedrooms to Premier Inn’s latest ID4 standard.

The Woolwich development was re-aquired by Berkeley Homes earlier this year. Residing on Beresford Street, the major route through Woolwich, the partly completed building is in much need of completion following abandonment.

Elements Europe and Berkeley Homes will now work in collaboration to complete the construction of the 6 storey building. The site is part of Berkeley Homes’ Royal Arsenal Riverside project, which has seen a huge investment within the Woolwich area delivering high quality apartments along the River Thames.

The hotel was previously installed with imported shipping containers as its hotel rooms, these have now been removed from the site.

Elements Europe will manufacture 130 Room Modules for Premier Inn, adding to a wide portfolio of previous work.

Stair cores and linen rooms will be manufactured by Elements Europe as well as flat roof cassettes with off-site manufactured plant areas. The roof will also feature a section of green roof and have a space saving rooftop plant room.

Elements Europe is currently working closely with EPR Architects to ensure all design work is finalised before the Room Modules go into manufacture.

Mark Jowett, Design Manager for Elements Europe commented “The existing transfer structure which includes concrete frame towers and slab penetrations raised a few challenges in design. However working closely with Berkley Homes, Elements Europe’s design team has been able to create a modular design solution which has allowed the required room sizes to be achieved with minimal remedial work to the original structure.”

This will be the second project Elements Europe has worked with Berkeley Homes on following the successful delivery of Green Park House, an iconic student accommodation scheme in Bath’s city centre.

Elements Europe Complete 12th Premier Inn Install

Elements Europe has completed the install of 131 Bathroom Pods at what will be Slough’s new Premier Inn hotel.

This is the 12th Premier Inn Elements Europe can add to its portfolio, with the 13th now in manufacture for a new Premier Inn in South Bromley.

Working with main contractor Bowmer and Kirkland for the 3rd time on a Premier Inn project, Elements Europe executed the install to Bowmer Kirkland’s critical path.

The Bathroom Pods have been manufactured to Premier Inn’s ID4 specification, the latest design specification for the brand.

CHAS Accreditation Granted

Elements Europe has received a certificate of accreditation from CHAS, Contractors Health and Safety Assessment Scheme.

The accreditation demonstrates compliance with sound management of current basic health and safety legislation.

CHAS has many benefits, and by participating in the scheme Elements Europe is now approved to work for all of CHAS’ buyers.

CHAS works to reduce the consistencies where some suppliers may be judged compliant by one buyer but not another, and it also gives guidance on any weaknesses in a supplier’s safety management, including how this can be improved.

Glen Davies Procurement Director for Elements Europe commented “We are delighted to become an authorised supplier for CHAS, and look forward to benefiting from the scheme.”

Motel One Bathroom Pod Install Complete

Elements Europe has completed the install of all 279  Bathroom Pods at Manchester’s newest Motel One hotel.

Production, haulage and installation teams worked alongside North West contractor Russells Construction to ensure the modules arrived in line with their programme.

Previously an office block that has now been demolished, the historic stone façade of the building has been maintained so to keep its architectural character, making installation slightly more challenging. The city centre location also meant that delivery and install timing were extremely important in order to ensure minimal disruption to traffic.

261 en-suite Bathroom Pods as well as 18 accessible pods were manufactured at Elements Europe’s facility in Telford, Shropshire.

The Bathroom Pods were fitted out to Motel One’s exact standards. Motel One is known for its high end interior, setting it apart from other low cost hotels. The bathrooms feature dark granite countertops, power showers, countertop basins, walk in showers and back to wall wc’s.
