Bathroom Pod Install Commences at Plymouth

The installation of 60 Bathroom Pods will commence this week at the student accommodation scheme, Crescent Point, in Plymouth.

The state of the art accommodation which is being built by Pickstock Construction utilising Elements Europe’s modular solutions is on schedule to open in time for the September intake of students.

Bathroom Pods will be installed into Block B which is a ten storey building, using a cantideck system. This method is being utilised due to the buildings concrete frame.

“Tower B is being built traditionally by our contractor company Pickstock Construction, with the inclusion of 60 Bathroom Pods” Commented Kate Pickstock Senior Development Surveyor.

The Bathroom Pod install marks the completion of the installation of Room Modules and Kitchen Pods into the taller of the two blocks.

“All 26 studio apartments, 263 en-suite bedrooms and 59 Kitchen Pods have been installed into tower Block A on schedule” commented Kate Pickstock Senior Development Surveyor.

The student rooms have been designed by The Pickstock Group and offer a contemporary design with ample space for studying and sleeping.

Elements Europe to Attend Apprenticeship Show

Elements Europe will be exhibiting at the hugely successful Apprenticeship Show on Thursday 16th March.

The show which will be held at the Telford International Centre will showcase a range of career and training opportunities available across Telford and the wider West Midlands.

Members of Elements Europe’s HR team will be on hand to demonstrate the array of apprenticeships available at their 200,000 sqft manufacturing facility in Telford.

“We have numerous vacancies for apprentices looking to develop a trade in modular construction” Commented Michael Lloyd HR Director at Elements Europe.

“We value the opportunity to help apprentices learn a new trade and we encourage all of our employees to continue to educate themselves through training allowing them to progress and develop to ensure they become specialists in their area” Added Lloyd.

Age is no limit when it comes to apprenticeships, although pupils from years 10,11,12, and 13 have been invited anyone can attend and become an apprentice.

Councillor Gilly Reynolds, Telford & Wrekin Council’s Cabinet Member for Education, Employment & Regeneration said: “Apprenticeships have recently become much more popular with both employers and apprentices alike. For employers, it gives them the opportunity to grow their business and nurture their future workforce. For the apprentice, it gives them a non-academic route into a chosen career.

“We have heard of many cases, including within this Council, of apprentices who have shone and gone on to greater things with the same employer.

“The Apprenticeship Show is a great opportunity to apply for or find out about the hundreds of opportunities available.”

Bathroom Pod Install Starts for BCEGI

Elements Europe has started delivery of Bathroom Pods to BCEGI’s Salford regeneration development.

Elements Europe has manufactured 914 Bathroom Pods to Phase 1 of the £700 million scheme in Salford, working on behalf of developer Scarborough Developments.

Elements Europe worked closely with its client and also WCEC Architects to design and manufacture 9 different types of Bathroom Pod for 6 apartment blocks at the scheme.

Elements Europe’s haulage team are initially delivering 20 modules per week at the request of BCEGI and will increase these numbers in line with the program.

Kevin Arthur, Director at Elements Europe commented “This is a fantastic regeneration scheme for the North West that we are delighted to be involved with.”

“We have the ability to manufacture and deliver high volumes at high quality, which we have proved with this order of 911 Bathroom Pods, our largest Bathroom Pod order to date” he added.

Plymouth Student Scheme Update

Plymouth student accommodation scheme is taking shape with just 90 Room Modules left to be installed.

Elements Europe’s haulage team are now delivering 12 modules per day from its manufacturing facility in Telford. These are then installed by the professional on-site installation team.

Dave Malkin, Site Manager commented “We are really pleased with progress. We have now increased the programme from 8 to 12 installs per day due to lighter evenings.”

Once all Room Modules have been installed Elements Europe will commence delivery and installation of 60 Bathroom Pods for the second of the two tower blocks, which will be built traditionally but will benefit from a Bathroom Pod solution so to negate the need for excessive on-site mechanical and electrical works.

The progress of the development is being captured on film by Plymouth production company Sound View Media Limited who have been on-site to capture the install of Room Modules and will continue to film through to the finished building.
The video will be available to view on our website later this year.

Leading Industry Representatives Visit Elements Europe

Over the course of two days representatives from JLL, Barratt Homes, Minerva Smart Cities, Enfield Borough Council, Tudor Blakeway, Cast Consultancy and Mark Farmer, author of the Construction Leadership Council’s Farmer Review “Modernise or die” discussed how Elements Europe and offsite construction can support accelerated housing delivery.
